summer vibes ✌️
🦀 welcome to cancer season = feel your feelings
Because is it really Cancer season if you’re not crying at least once a day?! #feelyourfeelings
WELCOME SUMMER !!! 🌈☀️Congrats on making it through the first half of the year. WE DID IT!!! 🎓 And welcome Cancer season.
Cancer is the fourth sign of the zodiac, and known for its intuition, sensitive nature and nurturing energy. It’s the sign most closely associated with home, family, roots and deep emotional safety. So naturally, it can bring on a lot of feelings around this time of year—some of which can be exciting (summer travels!! summer break! no more school or work!) but also can be a sentimental time, filled with longing & yearning (remember high school graduations, emotional goodbyes and signing of yearbooks?! HAGS!)
On one hand, we may be feeling a new sense of freedom and adventure—especially with the days being warmer and longer. Our schedules could be packed with dinners, outings, and upcoming trips! New projects or creative ideas on the horizon! On the other hand, we might find ourselves in a quieter, softer time, perhaps re-evaluating our direction and the first half of the year. If we feel unclear about our path, or don’t have anything concrete on the horizon, it might feel more like a “bummer” than a summer (which, to be fair, might be exactly what you need…not the bummer part, but having a softer, stay-close-to-home kind of summer. With adequate rest and play.)
Remember when you had to read a certain amount of books before September? Or you got a summer job to save for a car, trip, or thing you really wanted? Maybe you decided to take a course, or learned how to drive. Hope and motivation were on the horizon, and by the beginning of the school year, you could be a “different person”. Your summer could change you.
Enter: the summer bucket list 🎢
I distinctly remember writing down very specific goals that I had for myself, and feeling oh-so-motivated to get them achieved and accomplished (even if I started out strong, and then trailed off). I think bringing back some of that intentionality, especially when there is a lot of turmoil, pain and conflict in the world—can feel like a form of radical optimism. (plus, it’s fun and I think we could all use some fun. And it’s all starting with lil’ buckie list.)
Will I do everything I write? Maybe, maybe not. But, the point is to bring back whimsy, reckless hope, and enthusiasm into my everyday life—especially as I integrate back into society after a long season of healing, processing and being in the grief-y underworld (and so much travel! I’m beyond grateful).
My biggest hope and goal of all, is that I finally find career & vocational clarity, and fulfill this longing to be “at home” in my career (very Cancerian, huh?). And while I am still narrowing that path down (it’s probs gonna be therapy, coaching, anything to do with relationships, communication, improving one’s emotional literacy & fluidity, sex, death and maybe being an acting teacher on the side?) I’m devoted to getting myself closer to the life path I always dreamed of for myself, and will do just about anything to get there. I’m ready for it.
One of my other goals, is to write more routinely, and stoke the creative fire within me—so stay tuned for more. Thanks for being on this ride with me 🦋
Let’s all HAGS yeah?!
And tell me what summer goals/plans/visions/ideas you have! Share your lil buckie !!! I want to support you in making your summer dreams come true 🌈
P.S. Go see Elio. It’s super cute and I think you’ll like it. Ok, bye, I love you.
